WORK OBJECTIVE:
This job involves work performed in the bus garages and shops.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. • Perform periodic inspection and preventative maintenance tasks to identify defective, unserviceable or deteriorating components in vehicle ITS systems and determine the extent of required adjustments and / or repairs
• Perform basic repairs on all vehicle ITS systems and components with a focus on vehicle camera systems and vehicle fare collection systems
• Perform periodic destination sign updates
• Properly maintain written records of work performed via the Work Order platform
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Employee must possess all the qualifications required for work in a subordinate classification. Employee must be able to give evidence of satisfactory performance, or of ability to perform satisfactorily any or all duties in such subordinate classifications; and must be ready, willing, and able to perform in a satisfactorily manner any work regularly assigned as duties by the Supervisor. Employee must be able to demonstrate a basic level of skill in reading and interpreting cable diagrams, wiring diagrams, circuit logic and schematics. Must be able to wear and utilize all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must be able to express ideas effectively, orally and in writing. Must be able to maintain a working relationship with all employees.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of bending, squatting, reaching, kneeling, climbing (ladders), twisting, rotating and/or crawling (under bus). May also involve lifting (10-80+ pounds), carrying (10-60 pounds), pushing and/or pulling (5-15 pounds) materials and/or equipment.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
85% of time is spent inside, 15% of time is spent outside, exposing employee to natural environmental conditions. Work exposes employees to fumes, dust, gases, odors, and mist. Employee is also exposed to noise, vibration, hazards (slip and fall, chemicals) and motorized vehicles.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Driver’s License.
NOTE:
Work is performed in usual office conditions with rare exposure to disagreeable environmental factors.
