WORK OBJECTIVE:
The Senior System Administrator will function as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for a cross section of servers and applications, mentor/train system administrators and support projects as a technical expert. Senior System Administrators will lead and oversee various deployments and applications. Working close with 3rd parties, both internally and externally the System Administrator is responsible for the end to end technology solution within the Authority.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supports and maintains of Microsoft Windows and Linux versions, including performing security patching, storage/network management and configuration assistance.
• Works with VMWare Virtualization technologies including ESX, VSAN, virtual networking and DRS.
• Collects and documents system requirements including server specifications, support/maintenance information and SOPs.
• Works with enterprise class servers including remote management, storage configuration and on-going maintenance.
• Manages Office 365 and related applications such as Teams, One Drive and SharePoint.
• Manages identity providers, enterprise application integrations and MFA management.
• Works escalated helpdesk issues for the areas they are responsible and assists and advises the helpdesk administrator/s as required.
• Works with groups and users in other areas to assist and manage applications that they utilize.
• Monitors the system daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns.
• Upgrades systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution.
• Reviews application logs and respond/remediate events reported.
• Performs required audits in a timely manner and remediates issues as required.
• Manages relationship(s) with vendors to support NFTA systems.
• Assists with new technology evaluations and design.
• Serves in technical advisory role on enterprise projects.
• Investigates technical issues and provides documented root cause analysis.
• Performs additional duties and tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of computer operating systems. The ability to utilize resources at hand to discover, understand and resolve issues on complex systems. Confidential or sensitive information may be encountered during work activities and the expectation to keep this information private and secure is required. Candidates must demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Server Administration including active directory administration (User/group management, OU structure, replication, GPOs, DNS, DHCP and license administration,) Administration of Microsoft’s cloud platform including Identity, O365 and AD Connect. Operational experience managing a VMWare environment including Virtual Networking, VSAN, DRS and License Management. Experience with data protection platforms including data backup & restoration, snapshots and tape libraries. Linux experience is preferred. Previous experience with scripting and command line interface management (PowerShell, Bash, Azure scripting and software configuration). A strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP), firewalls, and client/server applications. ITIL/ITSM knowledge is a definite plus. Must have the capacity to provide technical direction and guidance to junior-level staff. Must be able to work well in a team atmosphere. Must be a self-starter and work well without continual supervision. After hours support and on call may be required as the need arises.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Task involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and /or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 50 pounds) with the occasional need to lift heavier equipment and materials with or without assistance as required.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in usual office conditions with rare exposure to disagreeable environmental factors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems and 5 years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSE) or similar credentials are preferred. Experience should include 5+ years supporting systems and network operations in medium to large organizations. Candidate must be able to work independently on a consistent basis. Must be able to pass all background and security clearance checks.
