WORK OBJECTIVE:
The System Administrator will function as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for a cross section of servers and applications. Responsibilities include managing the overall server health, backup, monitoring, application support and operating system patching and update. Working close with 3rd parties, both internally and externally the System Administrator is responsible for the end-to-end technology solution within the Authority.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supports and maintains Microsoft Windows and Linux versions, including performing security patching, storage/network management and configuration assistance.
• Basic understanding of networking (physical/virtual) with knowledge and experience with IPv4, IPv6, TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP management and wireless.
• Works with VMWare Virtualization technologies including ESX, VSAN, virtual networking and DRS.
• Collects and documents system requirements for server builds.
• Performs basic work on enterprise class servers including remote management, storage configuration and engages in on-going maintenance.
• Works with Office 365 and related applications such as Teams, One Drive and SharePoint.
• Addresses escalated helpdesk issues for the areas they are responsible for and assists and advises the helpdesk administrator/s as required.
• Works with groups and users in other areas to assist and manage applications that they utilize.
• Monitors the system daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns.
• Upgrades systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution.
• Reviews application logs and respond/remediate events reported.
• Exposure to ITSM model with focus on incident, problem and change management.
• Performs required audits in a timely manner and remediates issues as required.
• Performs additional duties and tasks assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of computer operating systems. The ability to utilize resources at hand to discover, understand and resolve issues on complex systems. Confidential or sensitive information may be encountered during work activities and the expectation to keep this information private and secured is required. After hours support and on call may be required as the need arises. Basic understanding of networking includes TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP. Strong understanding of Microsoft Desktop/Server operating systems including Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2016 or later. Windows experience must include break/fix, installation and configuration of both physical and virtual servers. Operational knowledge of VMWare vSphere/ESX with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues. Linux experience is recommended. Must be able to work well in a team atmosphere. Must be a self-starter and work well without continual supervision.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and /or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 50 pounds) with the occasional need to lift heavier equipment and materials with or without assistance as required.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in usual office conditions with rare exposure to disagreeable environmental factors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s degree in computer information systems or related curriculum and 2 years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of certifications, education and experience. Network+ or CTP certification is preferred. Must be able to pass background and security clearance checks.
