WORK OBJECTIVE:

This position involves the design, set up, operation, and maintaining of the digital press as well as performing associated and related digital graphic and creative design duties. The role will be responsible for the preparation, creation and production of high quality print material.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position. • Design, set up, operate, and manage digital press. • Filling written or oral orders for materials; to be produced by digital press. • Planning and preparing materials for printing including downloading files, and adjusting settings required for digital printing, subject to orders and consultation with the department supervisor, of materials to be produced. • Read, and interpret job tickets, ensuring correct specification for size, color, and overall content accuracy. • Create photographs and videos, support various design and layout requests from business units. • Perform routine technical maintenance and troubleshooting on digital press equipment, including outreach to business units to continuously maximize the capabilities of digital press. • Maintain departmental records and plan tasks for timely completion. • Operating all digital and other printing machines or equipment and other processes necessary to produce printed materials for public distribution as well as various forms for internal use. • Operating paper cutters, padding presses, paper drills or punches, stapling machines, folding machines, photo static machines, joggers and other machines or processes to prepare for printing or prepare printed materials for storage or use. • Keeping stock and shelves in a clean and orderly condition at all times. • Determining consumption and requirements of supplies and stored forms and keeping an adequate supply of stored forms. • Keeping departmental records. • Performs related duties as assigned to support various departmental tasks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Must be able to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing. Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with all employees. Must be able to explain and demonstrate to others all job details, methods and procedures. Must develop knowledge of company policies pertaining to the work involved. Must be able to lift 75 pounds in order to accept and stock deliveries of supplies (e.g., paper). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS College graduate and 2 to 5 years full-time experience in commercial art involving the design and layout of graphic and digital art materials, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience with digital press production. Graphic design skills utilizing Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, etc.) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling or crouching and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and /or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials. Must be able to lift 75 pounds in order to accept and stock deliveries of supplies (e.g., paper). ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS Some tasks are performed in a shop environment, where heightened awareness of surroundings and observance of established safety precautions is essential to avoid injuries or accidents. Some tasks are performed in an environment with potential for intermittent exposure to disagreeable elements. Tasks include working around moving parts, equipment, carts, and materials handling where physical risks are predictable, controllable by observance of standard safety precautions.
