WORK OBJECTIVE:

Performs responsible administrative and technical work to develop initiatives and facilitate, monitor and improve quality within the Authority’s safety program. Serves in a confidential capacity to the Director of HSEQ on safety, security, and other related matters with work being routinely assigned by the Director of HSEQ or Departmental Managers. Tasks as assigned are guided by defined procedures and are reviewed on a regular basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position. • Maintains training and safety related records, programs, statistics, and trends. • Assist the Director of HSEQ and Departmental Managers with day-to-day administration and business related functions of the department. • Assists the department in the preparation of HSEQ safety related reports. • Schedules and administers training and tracks all required HSEQ training. • Assists in information gathering related to accident investigations involving operational safety and workplace safety incidents. • Assists in safety, security and quality inspections, reviews, audits, and workplace safety investigations. • Administers and maintains the Accident Review, Employee Injury, Hazard Tracking, Safety Eyewear, Safety Footwear, and related safety tracking databases. • Schedules and assists with the preparation of cases for accident review. • Assists in scheduling a variety of meetings and completes meeting notes when requested. • Develops and distributes safety related messages through various means of communication including but not limited to safety campaigns, safety bulletins, and electronic/web-based media. • Completes Metro Performance Reports and additional documents for the board reports at the direction of the Director, HSEQ. • Performs safety data trend and statistical analysis of all relative data pertaining to occupational and operational safety in compliance with the SMS requirements of the Agency Safety Plan. • Purchases and distributes safety related materials and equipment when necessary. • Prepares and tracks purchase orders and invoices and monitors expenditures against departmental budgets. • Performs administrative duties. • Performs a variety of other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Astute knowledge of database programs and systems. Must possess proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Access, and related database management systems. Ability to interpret and understand safety principles and procedures. Ability to wear and utilize all required personal protective equipment. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed in a normal office environment as well as in the field. While in the field the employee may be exposed to chemicals, noise, and other physical stressors so personnel protective equipment may be needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

An Associate degree with a minimum of three (3) years related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
