WORK OBJECTIVE:

Under the supervision of the Controller, this position is responsible for the accounting, follow-up, and collection of all non-project related accounts receivable, medical insurance billing and reconciliation, tax returns and work papers associated with the position. This position is also responsible for maintaining lease and SBITAs data as they relate to GASB (87/96) requirements up to including journals and fiscal year end reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position. • Maintain property lease, equipment lease and SBITA lease information in central location. • Responsible for monthly journals and annual reports for GASB 87 and GASB 96. • Preparation of fixed and variable billing. • Maintain reporting on enplanements and deplanements related to both airports. • Follow-up / collection on delinquent accounts. • Preparation and review of aged accounts receivable and reserve balances. • Represents NFTA on small claims. • Responsible for filing of bankruptcy claims. • Preparation of work-papers for AR related accounts. • Preparation of Tax Returns (Sales & Use, Prompt Pay, Fuel Tax, etc.) • Medical Insurance Reconciliations and Voucher Preparation. • Maintain all Lease Agreement and Lease Abstracts. • Review and reconcile Collection Agency AR . • Assist with annual audit and AR reporting requirements. • Other assignments as deemed necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to interpret property contracts and create abstracts and lease schedules. Highly organized and able to manager multi-divisional billing and collection. Knowledge of accounting principles and GASB standards. Requires excellent Word and Excel skills. Prior experience with tax return preparation (sales tax, prompt pay, fuel tax). Must have excellent communication skills, both verbally and written. Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential to this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed in usual office conditions with rare exposure to disagreeable environmental factors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of three years billing and collection experience and a minimum two years of contractual interpretation and preparation of lease abstracts and schedules. Prior sales tax return experience a plus. GASB experience / knowledge a plus. Property experience a plus. Must pass qualifying skills test in Microsoft Excel and Word.
