Under the direction of the Manager of Design, this position will perform technical engineering and quality assurance/control work involving the design, drafting and document management for projects, along with site inspections and other related work as required.

The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position. • Provides technical engineering assistance and design for the operation and maintenance of the NFTA facilities. • Manages and implements the Engineering scanning station and printing hardware, including the installation, and upgrading of all engineering specific software. • Develops and maintains NFTA CAD standards and related issues with consultants and others. • Document management & archiving- Maintains electronic and hard copy drawing and specification files, as well as building permitting and tenant construction/alteration documents. • Performs CAD drafting/modeling and design tasks as required to prepare contract documents, exhibits and drawings used in the operation and maintenance of the NFTA facilities. • Distributes and takes receipt of engineering contract drawings and reviews submissions for completeness. • Procures drafting, site investigation, and printing services. • Prepares office layouts and coordinates office reorganization efforts. • Manage the tenant construction/modification application process and review submissions. • Initiate and manage the building permit process. This includes tracking the permitting process for all projects and tenant construction/alterations authority wide and making payments. • QA/QC - Perform technical, multi discipline consistency and constructability reviews of design document submissions for projects. • Manage NFTA Engineering bidding/request for proposal website. • Performs additional duties and tasks as assigned.


• Fluent with AutoCAD/Revit. • Experienced with, and desire to learn, the design for aviation, surface transportation and facilities construction projects. • Experience with managing documents both electronic and paper. • Experienced with, and desire to learn, the NYS building code. • Propensity for attention to detail and organization. • Ability to effectively communicate in writing, in-person, and video conference. • Ability to effectively multi-task and manage time.


Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).


Work is performed in usual office conditions with rare exposure to disagreeable environmental factors.


Associate degree in engineering technology (BS degree a plus), 2-years experience working in design and/or construction.
