WORK OBJECTIVE:
This job involves the general cleaning and preparation of vehicles for service, facility and grounds upkeep and cleanliness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position. • Cleaning and preparing vehicles for service, including out-of-service vehicles in or about the property. • Checking the cleanliness and serviceability of equipment and appurtenances of vehicles and reporting of defective or non-serviceable conditions. • Performs additional duties and tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Must perform any or all work assigned as duties with a speed and accuracy satisfactory to supervisory authorities. Must develop knowledge of company policies pertaining to the work involved. Must be able to wear and utilize all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must be ready, willing and able to perform in a satisfactory manner any work regularly assigned as duties by the Foreman or his deputies. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must be able to maintain effective working relationships. Must be able to operate and be certified to operate a PIV (powered industrial vehicle/fork lift truck). Possess the ability to operate safely and effectively common equipment for the position, to include, but not limited to powered floor cleaners, pallet jacks, lawn care equipment, trucks, buses, etc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of bending, squatting reaching, kneeling, climbing (stairs), twisting (hand/arm) and/or rotating (hand/arm). May involve the lifting (20-80+ pounds), carrying (10-50 pounds), pushing and/or pulling (mop/broom) of materials. Job involves standing for up to one hour at a time for two hours per day, sitting for one hour at a time for hours per day and walking three hours at a time for four hours per day.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
70% of time is spent inside and 30% of time is spent outside. Work exposes employees to fumes and dust, as well as noise (weed-whacker or snow blower), hazards (slip and fall) and motorized vehicles (lawn tractor or floor cleaner).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Commercial Driver’s License (Class B with passenger endorsement).
NOTE:
IN ACCORDANCE WITH FEDERAL REGULATION 49 CFR PARTS 653 & 654, THIS IS A “SAFETY SENSITIVE” POSITION, SUBJECT TO DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING. PARTICIPATION IN THE BLOODBORNE PATHOGEN PROGRAM IS REQUIRED.
