WORK OBJECTIVE:

This is professional and technical work involving administrative responsibility for the Risk Management function. Work assignments are reviewed by the Director Risk Management and Special Projects through observation of results obtained, conferences and periodic reports or evaluations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position. • Maintains files and documentation that supports the: - NFTA purchased insurance program; - NFTA insured fleet listing and files; - NFTA certificate tracking listing; - NFTA fleet driver listing; and - the external DMV (License Event Notification System) LENS system. • Prepares/advances internal insurance submittals for adequacy and determines and reconciles variances. • Gathers information for the insurance renewal process. • Participates in new risk management risk/loss control initiatives. • Maintains the NFTA Risk Management Department procedures manual. • Responsible for registering and plating NFTA non-revenue vehicles. • Assist with black box retrievals and analysis of events. • Processes and coordinates department mail (e.g., gathering, sorting, copying, distributing). • Provides administrative support for the entire Risk Management Department as well as a variety of other related duties as required/assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to work in a confidential atmosphere. Ability to effectively handle multiple projects concurrently. Ability to use personal computer to create, modify and update information and reports. Knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, Access and Powerpoint a must. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to solve problems independently whenever possible. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed in usual office conditions with rare exposure to disagreeable environmental factor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

An Associate’s degree in business with three years of relevant work risk/claims/insurance related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
