WORK OBJECTIVE:

This position performs professional level work of a difficult and responsible nature coordinating activities and programs for the Metro Transportation Department. An employee in this classification independently performs professional level administrative work and is responsible for planning and implementing assigned programs. Work involves coordination of activities, including but not limited to project implementation and interacting with vendors, which requires strict adherence to deadlines. Work is performed under general direction with review based upon observation and evaluation of results achieved.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position. • Supervises work assigned to the Transportation Support Clerk. • Oversees administrative functions for the Instruction Department. • Develops management reports, including but not limited to wheelchair passenger service based on daily performance, ADA–audit rides / System On-time and cost analysis for special service movements. • Oversees special departmental projects, including but not limited to the employee safety incentive program, uniform program and Dashboard Award Program for Transportation Department employees. • Develops and updates reports and documents for distribution to employees, including but not limited to rulebooks, route guides, fare books and work schedules. • Maintains departmental and electronic records for operators. • Maintain ORBCAD System for employee access. • Provides administrative support to the Accident Review Committee. • Serves as liaison with the Department of Motor Vehicles LENS System to monitor 19-A CDL status for all current Metro employees and all potential new Metro hires. • Schedules all 19A PTSI seminars, classes and billing information. • Monitors usage of office supplies and ensures that proper levels of inventory are maintained. • Maintain the NYS Thruway EZ Pass Program. • Perform additional duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Knowledge of theory and application of business procedures relating to office administration. Knowledge of rules, regulations, contracts, policy and procedures affecting operations. Knowledge of modern office management principles, practices, and equipment. Knowledge of computerized data processing systems. Strong organization skills. Ability to prepare and submit clear, complete and concise administrative reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Must be able to obtain a passing grade on the required aptitude tests. Tests include Basic Excel, Basic Access and 10-key.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed in usual office conditions with rare exposure to disagreeable environmental factors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

An Associate’s degree in business administration or a related field and four years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
